Here I am as a skeptical 1 year old about to massacre a b-day cake. Today is my birthday. My 30th. It's also my last day of work at a job I've been at for a long time. It's a lot of change for a person like me to deal with, and would normally cause me to curl up in the fetal position and avoid the whole thing. But for some strange reason, I am excited. Excited for the possibilities of my 30s, whatever they may be, and excited for the possibilities that come with starting something new. I might feel a whole lot differently tomorrow, but today, I'm just going to enjoy this excitement. And maybe eat a lot of cake.

Oh, and because it's my "champagne birthday"!! I am offering a shop special-30% off clothing! Check it out!!

Things I am not good at.

Oh haha, so, so many things on this list...but the one I want to publicly discuss is screenprinting. I suck at it. I have tried many, many times, even took a little 6 week class at a studio, but still-no good. Why must it be so hard!?! graa! I really feel like making t shirts right now, but I am terrified of printmaking! I don't know what it is-the exact times that a screen must burn, the correct amount of emulsion to use, whatever, it always ends up a big ol' mess, making me feel simultaneously frustrated and depressed. If anyone has any tips I would love to hear them because I feel like I should be able to do this. I can do this. Maybe? Anyways, here is the shirt that inspired my newfound desire to print.
Isn't it delightful? You can buy one here. When I saw this I thought, why yes, graphic tees still can be cool, and then I started thinking about all kinds of ideas for prints. Stay tuned, I just quit my job, so I've got some time on my hands. I will print!!!

These hats.

Are making me crazy! I have to admit I hate them. I've tried one or two on, and immediately thought-douchebag. They make me think of those super hipster parties, where everyone is ironically dressed in neon and phony coke bottle glasses. I guess if we are going to get really honest, they are one of the few fashion accessories that are making me feel old. Maybe should be sold with a disclaimer-only to be worn by those 21 and under, or 65+. Because anyone in between looks a bit ridiculous. I miss the days when I would sport an super asymmetrical haircut, paired with gigantic pants and an over constructed top with with no fear. No paranoia of "Does this make me look like I'm trying too hard?" Which is funny, because when I was 21 of course I was trying too hard! and of course I looked like it, but I strangely didn't care. Or maybe I never even knew it, which is even sadder. Ahh youth! Can you tell I'm turning 30 in less than a week? Get it together girl and stop talking about aging! I'm stopping now, I swear.

New Bag

Sunday is a great day. Sunday in the summer, even better. Today, I spent the afternoon on a patio with some friends, enjoyed some beers in the sun and then immediately came home for a nap. Delightful! And now I am in a post nap fog, but I really need to tell you about the arrival of my super amazing purse! I told you about it a few posts back. I ordered it from valhalabrooklyn, it was custom made, and it is awesome! It's a super soft leather, brilliant craftsmanship, and more importantly-totally hot! I feel like a real lady carrying around this bag. Oh yea. Here I am showing it off real classy like, beside our blue bin and a box of empty beer bottles.

Summer is here!

I think I am one of the few people that enjoys the steamy heat and humidity here in Toronto. So I'm kinda sad that we haven't had more days of absolute sweltering heat yet. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with what is going on right now. Summer is good. But I want more. I want to lounge in the sun, drinking a cocktail, and maybe even smoking a cig. And wearing a fab bathing suit. Here are some ideas I have for new suits. But it needs to get hotter before I bare skin.
1. I'm of the mindset no one really needs to see my neon white belly, so one piecers really are my scene. And this one is all nautical looking, which is even better. From Anthropologie.

2. This would look absolutely horrible on me, but again, love that nautical, and I do think the one piece with the cut out look is cool, just not on me. At Delias.

3. And if I was going to wear a two piece, it would be something cute and fun like this. Also from Delias.

And don't forget about vintage! I know some people may have a problem with wearing a vintage suit, but just give it a good ol' wash and you'll be fine! I'm on the hunt for vintage suits right now too, so I'll fill you in on what I find next week.
