Picture Me Rollin'

I used to be reliable. I would always show up on time, return calls & emails, not flake out on plans. Well, I don't know what happened, but somehow I've become a total unreliable jerk! Today, I was sent a reminder email about a meeting time, which I totally needed because I completely forgot! (thanks Gina!) And don't even get me started on this blog. There are many a post which linger in the list of unpublished. So I'm gonna try to be better, in a lot of organizational ways! Maybe I just need a really awesome dayplanner?

But moving on....Rollerskates. I need them. I know they are almost too over the top trendy and novelty, in a way that can come across really lame, but I need to make it work! When I was a kid, many evenings were spent on the concrete patch in my backyard, skating in circles, trying to skate backwards, pretending I was in some kind of olympic rollerskating finals. Good times, those were. Well, I don't have much of a backyard to skate in, but I am taking it to the streets! Once I find a pair of skates that is. Where??? These guys are hard to find. I've seached the Goodwills, the Value Villages, and only ever seen a child's size. Here is my next option. Please don't mock the expense! Black skates with purple wheels, it just might be worth it.

Here's a dress I just added to my shop. I think my childhood babysitter wore something like this to her prom. I was about 8 or 9 then, and at that time a sixteen year old seemed like the epitome of cool. It was before I really understood that 14-18 is possibly the worst time of your life, that I have these faded memories of great things in 1987! Also, maybe it's because I've watched Sixteen Candles too many times. But really, even now, I still think, damn! Molly Ringwald was cool. I know people are on some kind of backlash because 80s fashion has been permeating everything, but before you know it we are all going to be wearing doc martens and flannel again, so may as well enjoy this now!

Spoke too soon?

I know I just posted about how Mary Kate has some crazy fun styles, but what do you think of this?
I am finding that look a bit terrifying. Possibly resembling an old society broad who drinks scotch poolside at 11am.

Shop it out.

I visited The Clothing Show this weekend. For those of you not in Toronto, it is a big sale of independent designer & vintage clothing and accessories. It takes place on the CNE grounds in a vast warehouse building. (Which, as an unlrelated tidbit of information, is also the place where I went to my first rave many, many years ago. haha!) Anyhoo, I got there an hour before it closed on Saturday, so I was booting around pretty quick, but I have to admit, I was kind of disappointed. For one, this whole thing used to be called The Old Clothing Show and Sale, and was ALL vintage. Oh yes! It was heavenly. This year the vintage section was so, so small I feel like it may actually just get the boot from the show entirely. That makes me sad because there is always interesting finds there. Last year, I picked up a one-piece velour pantsuit. It is amazing! And it was only10 dollars, thereby raising it to more amazing status.
Also, the sample sale section had things like sheets and purfume, which is fine I guess, but it just felt like the whole show will soon be just a free for all of random stuff.
But I did find some cool pieces. More than I had money to buy, of course, including a pair of wicked sunglasses from the 70s, and some neat repurposed vintage. My one purchase showing below. A fun baggy, primary colour top with a cotton band at the waist. Made by Jool.
